Shylo
Nursing Service was founded in 1980 by Betty Brown, an inspired Nurse
who wanted to provide a dignified alternative for terminally ill people
wishing to stay in the comfort of their own homes. Betty's company grew
over the years as more and more Nurses joined her quest to provide
quality in-home nursing care. Before long she had over a hundred Health
Care professionals in her employment. Due to this expansion, Betty
needed more administrative help and in 1985 Linda Gusa, RPN. joined her
and they worked together successfully for over 15 years.
Margot Ware (R.N., B.Sc.N., G.N.C.(C)), the present Director/Owner of
Shylo Nursing Services, initially joined the Company as a companion in
1987. Impressed by both Betty and Linda's in-home nursing care of her
terminally ill mother (and later grandfather) she felt she literally
stumbled into her nursing vocation through their wonderful example. In
1989 Margot started her educational journey towards a Nursing degree
while continuing to work at Shylo. Ten years later when Betty and Linda
were ready to retire, Margot took over the company that she'd grown to
love. Margot has continued to maintain the high ethical standards that
have always kept Shylo in the forefront of community service on the
North Shore and Lower Mainland.
Margot says, "We're like a family at Shylo
and we're proud to continue offering in-home nursing with the special
touch only a small community business can offer. We celebrated our 20th
anniversary in 2000 and now we're looking forward to a further twenty
years serving the community!"
